Did you know you could use your Aga cooker as an iron?

Simply fold your clothes and leave them on the lid of the simmer spot for a few hours.

Dont forge the first rule of Aga - do 80% of your cooking in the oven and 20% on the hob (spots)

You have a problem with the steam in your top oven! Well you could look at the air circulation system - it starts at the lower oven door on the right, you should have a small (1 inch) gap in the door seal either at the bottom or between the hinge pins on the right. This must be keep clear of dust, then check the tube between the ovens (left hand rear) is clear, then the hole at the top of the roasting oven. If all these are clear then its time to give us a call!

Did you know you can run your night storage (30A aga cooker after 1990) on setting '0' to reduce the heat output for summer or holiday days, which saves money over the night charge. It will come back up to temperature an hour after switching it back to normal without using any more electric!

If you can not open the lids on jars, turn them upside down and leave them for a short while on the top surface of the aga cooker.

Keeping the vent fan off whilst cooking cakes on an electric aga cooker will help keep them moist.

Toasting sandwiches? use glyde sheet top and bottom on the right hand plate with the lid down.

When selecting pot and pans always look for a large flat bottom to the pan to make the most contact with the cooking spots, to reduce the temperature whilst cooking either move the pan half on / off the cooking spot or use a coin under the pan to lift is slightly.

Sealing plastic bags? use the edge of the simmer spot ring and close the lid for a few seconds - bag sealed!

When using the 2 oven night storage aga you may find difficulty getting the temperature right (using the cold shelf system) for cake baking, if so reduce the dial temperature down from 4.5 to 3  an hour or so before hand.

Another tip is when leaving an Aga cooker off for several weeks ( whilst on holiday or during summer months ) then oil (lightly) both the spots to stop any corrosion to the iron surface.

If you feel you need to vary the temperature getting to a pan via the cooking spots as its too fierce move a pan over to one side slightly off of the main spot or use a coin on the cooking spot surface to lift the pan away from the surface.
